My New Crochet Garlands: Citrus, Watermelon and Scandinavian Folk Inspiration 🍊🍉

Image
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been working on a small collection of decorative crochet and felt garlands inspired by fruits, vintage decorations and Scandinavian interiors. I enjoy creating simple, colorful and easy-to-make projects with a handmade spirit. For this series, I took inspiration from: vintage doilies, retro kitchen decorations, summer garlands, but also natural decorations traditionally used in Nordic homes during winter. These garlands can be used both as summer and winter decorations. All of these projects use beginner-friendly techniques suitable for crocheters who already know a few basic stitches. 🍊 Vintage Citrus Garland This new garland combines orange slices, lemons and blood oranges with a construction inspired by vintage lace doilies. I wanted to create a light and decorative project that could work both: as summer decor, in a kitchen, in a craft room, or even as a natural Christmas decoration. In Denmark, dried orange slices are often u...

My Felt Bears (and the pattern)

Image
I recently revisited a series of small felt bears that I originally created a few years ago. Back then, I already liked their raw and expressive look. Very simple shapes, just a few lines, but a lot of character. The blanket stitch is intentionally visible — it’s part of the drawing as much as the construction. Working on them again now, I realized I still like them just as much. They have something a bit naive, almost childlike, but with very strong expressions. That’s what made me want to turn them into a pattern. The idea stayed the same: keep it simple, accessible, no sewing machine needed, and very little material. A project you can start easily, while still having a strong visual identity. The pattern includes all the steps, with stitch diagrams and printable templates. 👉 The pattern is available here:  www.cocoflower.net ************************************************* Do you like my work? Fanø and the mystery of the little dogs

Image
Sunday was an excursion to Fanø . A small island 16km long off the coast of Esbjerg . To get there you take a big barge that takes 15 minutes to cross the bay. You can get there by car, bike or on foot. Once there, we visited the pretty town of  Nordby , with its cobbled streets and thatched rouf houses. We had breakfast there on the Haven 's pleasant terrace with croissants and a nice hot chocolate. Because since we've been in Denmark, we've missed French viennoiseries so much 😭. In front of the harbour, a few seals were sunbathing under the eyes of tourists and amateur photographers. (On my picture they are the small dots in the background in front of the industrial port of Esbjerg in the distance 😂) Next, go to the town of Sønderho . An ultra-charming little village with thatched houses, flea markets and friendly restaurants. We finished with a swim on the large sandy beach of Fanø Strand .  Here, cars can park on the beach. On our French beaches in Brittany, this wou...
